IRQ conflicts can result in different symptons such as:

A PCI adapter may not be seen by the operating system.

The system may not complete the boot process.

The driver for the adapter may not install properly.

The adapter may function intermittently.

The adapter may function without problems for some time and then suddenly fail or lock up the system.

If you suspect that there is an IRQ conflict, here are some steps which you can take to resolve the problem.

1. Check with your system board manufacturer for a BIOS update. IRQ allocation is a primary responibiity of the BIOS.

2. Check with your system board manufacturer for any special drivers (operating system specific) which may be required.

3. If your system board BIOS allows you to assign an IRQ to an individual PCI slot, assign an unused IRQ to the PCI slot in which you installed the Digi PCI adapter.

4. Some systems do not allow the assignment of IRQs as in step #3 so the next best step is to remove the driver if it got installed, power down, move the Digi PCI adapter to another PCI slot, and power back up. Hopefully this will result in a different IRQ being assigned to the Digi PCI adapter. Reinstall the driver and check for proper operation. Step #4 may have to be repeated several times to be successful.
